Are You Inspecting for Quality, or Building It In?

This is one of the biggest mindset shifts between a traditional nursery and a modern factory. Let's look at the two approaches.

Quality Control (Inspecting)

  • You grow a batch of plants and hope for the best.
  • At the end, someone inspects them and grades them as "good" or "bad".
  • This is reactive and subjective.
  • It creates waste (the "bad" plants).

Quality Assurance (Building)

  • You design a process with clear standards.
  • Every step is controlled to ensure the standard is met, every time.
  • This is proactive and data-driven.
  • It makes a quality plant the most likely and repeatable outcome.
